Roosevelt Island's view of the Manhattan skyline is one of the many privileges that make its residents proud.

Peace Beyond the East Side

From Roosevelt Island, one can hear the sounds of the East River merge with the muted noise of traffic rushing along the Franklin D. Roosevelt Highway.

Roosevelt may have lent his name to a busy road that epitomizes New York City's frantic pulse, but on the other side of the East River, his name is attached to another American icon: a small community wrapped in quaintness, history and a sense of pride.
